Donations are vital to continue the important work does to the support the passenger transport industry are the UK’s leading campaign group for the taxi, private hire, minicab and chauffeur industry. Unlike our peers in the trade, doesn’t just report the news, we create it. Our work is vital to support the trades fight to bring better regulation and to uncover illegal or criminal activities within the trade.

We are passionate about the passenger transport industry and are determined to clean up the industry and hold those responsible for regulating the trade to account if they fail in their duty to enforce the law or protect both the legitimate side of the trade and the wider public.

Our investigations unit, headed by The Secret Squirrel, undertakes complex investigations with his team of specialists which can involve LTU investing substantial time and resources ensuring cases are successfully concluded. These investigations put a financial strain on our resources, limiting the amount of cases we are able to take on.

Currently, the LTU team are working on a number of complex ‘high profile’ cases. Our work has already uncovered the car clocking epidemic in the private hire and chauffeur industry, with one case involving Emirates Airline UK preferred chauffeur service, PCS Chauffeurs. PCS Events Limited, the company behind the PCS Chauffeurs brand is being prosecuted for conspiracy to defraud in relation to a “substantial case” involving alleged car clocking. Along with several individuals including the owners, directors and key employees a trial date has been set for 9 January 2017, at Chester Crown Court. The trial is expected to last several weeks. also incurs costs reporting the news or covering court cases, including reporters and legal costs. We have other expenses which are incurred through our work – servers, administration and general running costs, all of which puts pressure on our team.
